Chipko Moment History चिपको मूवमेंट की शुरुआत उत्तराखंड के चमोली जिले (तब उत्तर प्रदेश का भाग) से हुई थी। जब साल 1973 में वन विभाग के ठेकेदारों ने जंगलों के पेड़ों की कटाई शुरू कर दी थी तब चिपको आंदोलन ने जन्म लिया।

चिपको आंदोलन का इतिहास – 

  • असल Chipko Moment History चिपको आंदोलन का इतिहास और पुराना है। इससे पहले 18वीं सदी में राजस्‍थान के बिश्‍नोई समाज के लोगों ने पेड़ों को गले लगाकर अवनीकरण का विरोध किया था। उस समय केहरी समूह के पेड़ों को बचाने के लिए अमृता देवी के नेतृत्‍व में 84 गांवों के 383 लोगों ने अपनी जान की कुर्बानी दे दी थी। इसके बाद जब इससे होने वाले बुरे प्रभावों का एहसास हुआ तो जोधपुर के महाराज के आदेश पर शुरू हुई पेड़ों की कटाई को रोक दिया गया और एक राजकीय आदेश जारी कर पेड़ों की कटाई पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया।

दोबारा शुरु हुआ Chipko Moment History चिपको आंदोलन

  • आधुनिक भारत में, सन् 1973 में उत्‍तर प्रदेश के मंडल गांव में चिपको आंदोलन शुरू हुआ। इस आंदोलन की खास बात यह थी कि इसमें स्त्रियों ने भारी संख्या में भाग लिया था।

  • चांद चंडी प्रसाद भट्ट और उनके NGO दशोली ग्राम स्‍वराज्‍य ने उत्तर प्रदेश में स्‍थानीय महिलाओं के एक ग्रुप के साथ मिलकर इस आंदोलन का नेतृत्‍व किया। वहीं इस पहल में मशहूर पर्यावरणशास्‍त्री सुंदरलाल बहुगुणा ने भी साथ दिया और इंदिरा गांधी से उनकी अपील के बाद देश में पेड़ों को काटने पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया। चिपको आंदोलन में धूम सिंह नेगी, गौरा देवी, बचनी देवी और सुदेशा देवी की बड़ी भूमिका रही।

 1987 में आंदोलन को सम्यक जीविका पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था – 

  • चिपको आंदोलन पर्यावरण संरक्षण से संबंधित आंदोलन था….  यह Chipko Moment History आंदोलन 1974 में भारत के उत्तराखंड (तत्कालीन उत्तर प्रदेश) में किसानों द्वारा वृक्षों की कटाई का विरोध करने के लिए किया गया था. पेड़ों को कटने से बचाने के लिए लोग पेड़ों से चिपक जाते थे….  जिससे ठेकेदार पेड़ों की कटाई नहीं कर पाते थे…  इस आंदोलन का नेतृत्व पर्यावरणविद सुंदरलाल बहुगुणा, गोविंद सिंह रावत, चंडी प्रसाद भट्ट तथा गौरा देवी ने किया था….  बाद के वर्षों में यह आंदोलन उत्तर प्रदेश के अलावा बिहार, राजस्थान, हिमाचल प्रदेश, कर्नाटक आदि राज्य में फैली है…

  • पहली बार चिपको आंदोलन की शुरुआत 18वीं शदी में ‘राजस्थान’ के ‘खेजरली गांव‘ में हुआ था….  तब 1731 ई. में महाराजा अजीत सिंह ने “खेजड़ी वृक्ष” काटे जाने का आदेश दिया गया था…  उस खेजड़ी वृक्ष को बचाने के लिए ‘अमृता देवी बिश्नोई‘ एवं उनकी तीन पुत्रियों ने पेड़ों को गले लगाकर (चिपककर) खड़े हो गए. परंतु अजीत सिंह के लोगों द्वारा उनके समेत 363 लोगों को वृक्षों के साथ काट दिया गया था…..

  • आधुनिक समय में चिपको आंदोलन की शुरुआत “26 मार्च 1974” में हुई. जब तत्कालीन उत्तर प्रदेश (अब उत्तराखंड) के ‘रैणी गांव‘ के जंगल में लगभग 2500 पेड़ों की कटाई की नीलामी हुई थी. “गौरा देवी” और अन्य महिलाओं ने नीलामी के खिलाफ आंदोलन कर दिया. इसके बाद भी सरकार और ठेकेदार के रवैए में कोई बदलाव नहीं आया. गौरा देवी के नेतृत्व में 20 महिलाएं पेड़ से लिपट कर खड़ी हो गई. अंततः गौरा देवी का यह आंदोलन सफल रहा. वन अधिकारियों ने रैणी गांव का जंगल नहीं काटने का फैसला किया. यहीं से आधुनिक चिपको आंदोलन प्रारंभ हुआ. जो बात के वर्षों में उत्तर प्रदेश के अलावा बिहार, राजस्थान, हिमाचल प्रदेश, कर्नाटक आदि राज्यों में फैल गया....

“क्या है जंगल के उपकार, मिट्टी, पानी और बयार!
मिट्टी, पानी और बयार, जिंदा रहने के हैं आधार!!”

  • चिपको आंदोलन में महिलाओं की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण रही है…  गौरा देवी के नेतृत्व में महिलाओं ने बढ़ चढ़कर हिस्सा लिया. चिपको आंदोलन के दौरान महिलाओं ने तर्क दिया कि एक महिला ही इंधन, पानी और भोजन व्यवस्था करती है. महिलाओं का जंगल से अटूट संबंध रहा है. वह यह भी बता ते थे कि किस तरह मानव जीवन पेड़ पौधों पर निर्भर है. पर्यावरण के बिना मानव जीवन की कल्पना नहीं की जा सकती. यही कारण था कि जब 1974 में चिपको आंदोलन की शुरुआत गौरा देवी ने किया, तब लगभग 20 महिलाओं ने उनका साथ दिया और पेड़ों से चिपक गये. इस तरह पेड़ों की अंधाधुंध कटाई और लगातार कम होते वन संपदा को बचाने के लिए महिलाओं ने महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई….
