Water Wives Reality ‘वाटर वाइफ्स’ ये शब्द सुनकर आपके दिमाग में क्या आता है? ये किसी नाटक का नाम लगता है, लेकिन हिंदुस्तान के एक गांव में ये सच्चाई है। आज भी कई लोग उस गांव में सिर्फ इसलिए शादी करते हैं क्योंकि उन्हें पानी लाने के लिए किसी की जरूरत होती है। आप सोच रहे होंगे कि शादी करना तो कोई बुरी बात नहीं, लेकिन अगर एक ही इंसान कई शादियां करे तो? ये बात है महाराष्ट्र के एक गांव की जहां सिर्फ पानी भरने के लिए ही शादियां की जाती हैं। एक ही आदमी दो या तीन शादियां भी करता है जिससे उसके घर में पानी आ सके।

Water Wives Reality 2015 में ओपन मैग्जीन द्वारा पब्लिश एक आर्टिकल में इस टर्म को यूज किया गया था। उसी सोर्स के हिसाब से इस गांव के कुछ पुरुषों की 4 पत्नियां भी हैं जिसमें से सिर्फ एक ही लीगल है और बाकी तीन ‘पानी बाई’ होती हैं। इसी आर्टिकल में वहां के एक किसान सखाराम भगत का जिक्र था जिसका परिवार उस इलाके में सबसे बड़ा है। सखाराम ने तीन शादियां की हैं और उसकी दूसरी और तीसरी पत्नियां सिर्फ पानी लाने का काम ही करती हैं। सखाराम जो पास के एक फार्म में मजदूरी का काम करते हैं उनका मानना है कि पानी लाने के लिए शादी करने के अलावा उनके पास और कोई चारा नहीं था।

Water Wives Reality गर्मियों में पानी लाने का काम काफी ज्यादा भारी होता है जब महिलाएं सुबह जल्दी खाली बर्तन लेकर निकल जाती हैं और नदी तक की यात्रा में खेत, पहाड़ी बीहड़ और जंगली पेड़ों के बीच से होते हुए नदी तक जाती हैं। वो पानी लेकर शाम तक पहुंचती हैं। हर महिला अपने सिर पर 15-15 लीटर के दो कनस्तर रखती है और रोजाना का यही रूटीन होता है।

आखिर क्यों की जाती है इस तरह की शादी ?

Water Wives Reality दरअसल, इसके पीछे समाज का नियम है जहां सिंगल महिलाओं को चाहें वो विधवा हो या फिर निचली जाति की महिला जिसे समाज में इज्जत चाहिए होती है। इन महिलाओं के लीगल अधिकार नहीं होते और न ही ये बच्चे पैदा कर सकती हैं। जब ये बूढ़ी हो जाती हैं या बीमार हो जाती हैं तो पति फिर से शादी करता है ताकि पानी लाने का ये नियम ऐसे ही बना रहे। आपको ये जानकर हैरानी होगी कि इस गांव से सिर्फ तीन किलोमीटर दूर एक डैम है जिसमें पानी भरा रहता है, लेकिन इस डैम का पानी पाइप के जरिए मुंबई चला जाता है। ऐसे में गांव के लिए कुछ भी नहीं बचता है।

Water Wives Reality देश के कई ऐसे हिस्से हैं जहां पर पानी की कमी बहुत होती है और महिलाओं को मीलों दूर से पानी लाना पड़ता है। पर पानी की ऐसी कमी जिसके चलते एक से ज्यादा शादियां करनी पड़ें ये तो बहुत ही अजीब बात लगती है। महाराष्ट्र के ठाणे जिले का एक गांव डेंगनमल है जिसकी यही कहानी है। वहां महिलाएं सिर्फ पानी लाने का काम करती हैं और अगर कोई एक महिला पानी लाने के काबिल नहीं रहती तो दूसरी शादी कर ली जाती है।
