Neem Karoli Baba भारत का शायद ही कोई कोना होगा, जहां नीम करौली बाबा के भक्त न हों। भारत की महान संत परंपरा को आगे बढ़ाने वाले इस महात्मा का जन्म सन् 1900 के आसपास उत्तर प्रदेश के फिरोजाबाद जिले के अकबरपुर गांव में हुआ था। माता-पिता ने बालक का नाम रखा, लक्ष्मी नारायण। कहा जाता है कि पिता दुर्गा प्रसाद शर्मा ने 11 साल की उम्र में ही लक्ष्मी नारायण की शादी करा दी थी। लेकिन, बालक तो बचपन से वैरागी था।

  • Neem Karoli Baba हिमालय की सुरम्य वादियों में बने एक आश्रम में भंडारा चल रहा था। प्रसाद पाने के लिए भक्तों की लंबी कतार लगी थी वहां कि तभी देसी घी ख़त्म हो गया। अब पूरियां कैसे तली जाएं? कुछ घबराए हुए भक्त एक बुजुर्ग के पास पहुंचे और कहा, ‘महाराज, घी तो खत्म हो गया!’ बुजुर्ग ने कहा, ‘जाओ, नदी से डिब्बों में पानी भर लाओ।’ हैरान भक्तों ने आदेश का पालन किया। कहा जाता है कि बाद में रसोई में पानी से भरे डिब्बों को खोला गया, तो उसमें देसी घी था। भक्तों ने अपने प्यारे बाबा के चरण पकड़ लिए। जिन बाबा के बारे में यह वाकया प्रचलित है, वह कोई और नहीं, महान संत नीम करौली बाबा थे।

  • Neem Karoli Baba लक्ष्मी नारायण ने 17 साल की उम्र में घर छोड़ दिया। वह ईश्वर को खोज रहे थे। घूमते-टहलते पहुंचे गुजरात के मोरबी जिले के बबानिया गांव। कहा जाता है कि लक्ष्मी नारायण यहां तालाब में रहकर तपस्या करते थे। नाम पड़ गया, तलैया बाबा। कुछ साल बाद लक्ष्मी नारायण यहां से उत्तर भारत की ओर बढ़े। तपस्या के लिए अगली जगह थी, उत्तर प्रदेश का फर्रुखाबाद ज़िला। नीम करौली गांव के लोगों ने साधु बाबा के लिए गांव के बाहर ज़मीन में एक गुफा बना दी। गांव वाले उन्हें प्यार से लक्ष्मण दास बाबा कहते। बाबा ज़्यादातर समय ध्यान करते थे। बाहर आते तो नीम करौली के बाशिंदे उनकी खूब सेवा करते। समस्याओं से घिरे लोग जब बाबा के आशीर्वाद से ठीक होने लगे, तो उन्हें समझ आ गया कि लक्ष्मणदास बाबा कोई साधारण व्यक्ति नहीं।

  • Neem Karoli Baba गांव के एक बेऔलाद शख़्स ने लक्ष्मणदास बाबा से संतान के लिए प्रार्थना की। बाबा ने कहा, ‘कुआं बनवा दे, संतान हो जाएगी।’ उस शख़्स ने गांव में कुआं बनवा दिया, लेकिन उसका पानी तो खारा था। बाबा ने कहा, ‘कुएं में 10 बोरी चीनी डलवा दो, पानी मीठा हो जाएगा।’ गांववालों ने ऐसा ही किया। बरसों बाद भी आज इस कुएं का पानी मीठा है।’ बाबा लक्ष्मणदास की ख्याति दूर तक फैलने लगी थी। लोग बाबा के पास आते और अपनी समस्याएं बताते। मानवता के कल्याण के लिए समर्पित बाबा अपनी शक्ति के अनुसार लोगों की समस्याएं ख़त्म कर देते। कोई बीमारी से मुक्ति पाता, तो किसी की गोद भर जाती, किसी को नौकरी मिलती तो कोई अकाल मौत से बचता।

  • Neem Karoli Baba अंग्रेज़ी शासन में एक दिन कंबल लपेटे एक साधु ट्रेन के फर्स्ट क्लास कोच में सवार हो गए। टिकट चेकर ने बाबा को नीचे उतार दिया। बाबा प्लैटफॉर्म पर बैठ गए। सिग्नल हुआ, लेकिन ड्राइवर के लाख प्रयासों के बावजूद गाड़ी आगे नहीं बढ़ी। दो घंटे गुज़र गए। तभी अचानक एक शख़्स ने बाबा से मज़ाकिया लहज़े में कहा, ‘बाबा मंतर-वंतर फूंकिए, गाड़ी बढ़वा दीजिए।’ जवाब में बाबा ने कहा, ‘हमें तो गाड़ी से उतार दिया, हमारे पास टिकट भी था।’ लोग टिकट चेकर पर नाराज़ हुए और बाबा को कोच में बैठाया। बाबा ने ट्रेन को थपकी देते हुए कहा, ‘चल भई!’ इतना कहते ही ट्रेन चल पड़ी।

  • Neem Karoli Baba तभी से लक्ष्मण दास बाबा को भक्त नीम करोली बाबा कहने लगे। कुछ लोग उन्हें नीब करौरी बाबा भी कहते हैं। 1935 के आसपास बाबा भ्रमण पर निकले और उन्होंने हिमालय की वादियों में तपस्या की। नैनीताल में उन्होंने हनुमानगढ़, भूमियाधार और कैंची धाम आश्रमों की स्थापना कराई। सोशल मीडिया साइट फेसबुक के सह-संस्थापक मार्क जकरबर्ग फेसबुक के घाटे से परेशान थे। स्टीव जॉब्स ने 2006 में मार्क को नीम करौली बाबा के आश्रम जाने की सलाह दी। मार्क 2008 में भारत आकर कैंची धाम में रहे। इसके बाद उन्होंने कामयाबी की उन सीढ़ियों पर क़दम रखे, जहां पहुंचने के सिर्फ सपने देखे जा सकते हैं।

  • Neem Karoli Baba नीम करौली गांव में बाबा की अनुमति के बिना गुफा में प्रवेश करना मना था। एक दिन बाबा गुफा में तपस्या कर रहे थे, तभी गोपाल नाम का भक्त लोटे में दूध लेकर गुफा में चला गया। बाबा समाधि में लीन थे और उनके शरीर पर सांप लिपटे थे। बाहर आकर गोपाल बेहोश हो गया। नीम करौली बाबा ने गोपाल से कहा, ‘तुम्हें बिना अनुमति गुफा में नहीं आना था।’ भक्तों का मानना है कि यह बाबा का शिव स्वरूप था। बाबा के ईष्ट हनुमान जी हैं, जो शिव के ग्यारहवें रूद्र अवतार हैं।
