देहरादून में आयोजित Power Lifting Championship पावर लिफ्टिंग चैंपियनशिप में महिला वर्ग में जोशीमठ की अश्मिता शाह ने पहला स्थान प्राप्त कर ट्रॉफी पर कब्जा किया जबकि पुरुष सीनियर वर्ग में कौशल धीमान सीनियर स्ट्रांग मैन व प्रदीप कुमार सब मास्टर स्ट्रांग मैन बने वहीं मास्टर स्ट्रांग मैन में संदीप कुमार ने प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया।

इस दिलचस्प चैंपियनशिप में कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष सूर्यकांत धस्माना भी पहुंचे और युवा खिलाडियों और ख़ास कर महिला प्रतियोगियों का मनोबल बढ़ाते हुए विजेताओं को पुरस्कार वितरित किये। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने कहा कि आने वाले दिनों में उत्तराखंड में कांग्रेस की सरकार बनेगी और तब राज्य में युवाओं व खेलों की एक दीर्घकालीन व ठोस नीति बना कर खेल और खिलाड़ियों को प्रोत्साहित किया जाएगा।
